Weldon Ryan

ARTIST BIO

Weldon Ryan is a Trinidad and Tobago-born realist painter living and working in Palm Coast, Florida. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (A.A. in General Illustration, 1985), he has a diverse background as a freelance illustrator, NYC Urban Park Ranger, and NYPD Forensic Artist before transitioning to full-time painting in 2004.

Ryan’s work blends classical realism with contemporary themes, focusing on the vibrancy of multicultural life. His large-scale oil paintings spotlight the West Indian Carnival and the dynamic coastal culture of Florida, including vivid beach scenes that capture the energy, warmth, and spontaneity of seaside life.

His compositions are bold and immersive, often tightly cropped to invite viewer participation and emphasize the moment. Whether celebrating Carnival’s joyous abandon or the relaxed vitality of Florida’s shores, Ryan’s art invites reflection on identity, freedom, and shared human experience.
