ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My abstract art is inspired by nature’s colors, energies and life cycles. I am often surprised at how I’m guided to groove the canvas with tools that include rags, sponges, weed stalks, shells and brushes. I’m drawn to aquatic life from the seas and oceans, and I love the endless permutations of shapes and colors found there. One could say that the result is a process of intuitively expressing and building upon the joy and adventure of the first touch of color on my canvas.

Before focusing on my art practice, I worked with international non-profit health and education organizations and travelled the US and the world. While raising my son, I was a part-time and then full-time teacher. I’ve been devoting time to my art practice, working out of my home studio, since my husband and I moved to St. Augustine in 2020. I like all mediums, but acrylic painting is my current favorite.
I’ve exhibited at The Art Studio at St. Augustine Beach, PAStA Gallery, The St. Augustine Art Association, Butterfield Art Garage Gallery and I was Artist of the Month at the St. Johns County Library Main branch. I’m a member of the St. Augustine Art Association and The Art Studio at St. Augustine Beach.
