Mare Martelli – Gallery Owner & Artist

ARTIST BIO

Gallery Owner & Artist
Mare Martelli considers herself an “explorer of all mediums” … A creator of mosaic art and clay/glass sculpture as well as a painter of modern acrylic/mixed media and watercolor. She has an affinity for working in texture and layers to bring pieces to life – no matter the subject. She loves to discover, experiment, and have her pieces speak to her along the journey of their creation.
Mare studied art and design at UArts & The Art Institute in Philadelphia. While spending most of her career in the marketing, web consulting and publishing arena, she kept her toe in the arts – designing logos, branding and media for musicals, playbills, album covers, and the like for fellow artisans. She has also taught Elementary School Art in Cherry Hill, NJ, as well as mosaics and clay sculpture in private studios.
Originally from the New Jersey/Philadelphia area, she fell in love with St. Augustine on her first visit in 2007 and finally made it her full-time home in 2018. Aside from creating art, she has spent her time in St. Aug volunteering for STAAA, , serving on the Board of Directors at Fort Mose and other local charity organizations. A lover of all animals, good vegetarian food, and exploring the history and natural wonders the St. Augustine area has to offer – Mare enjoys her life here with her husband Ken, 2 rescue Aussies and 2 foundling cats.
