ARTIST BIO

John is an award-winning artist from Jacksonville, Florida. His studio is based in Ponte Vedra, Florida, where he lives with his wife and two children. His work is a meditation on nature, consciousness, literature, experimentation and science. He draws upon the beauty of his environment and natural phenomena to infuse vivid detail into each one of his paintings. He aims to have viewers of his work get lost in his paintings to communicate the flow state he experiences when creating his work.

John is inspired by Abstract Expressionists and Surrealists as well as the color theory work of Wassily Kandinsky. He is particularly drawn to the painters’ ideas of art as a unique form of communication and language even in its most abstract point. He strives to reach the same level of wholeness and complexity that he experiences when he sees the work or reads the work of these artists.

Along with other visual mediums, John is particularly interested in the complexity and experimentation of post-modern literature, specifically the work of James Joyce, David Foster Wallace, Thomas Pynchon, William Gaddis, Aldous Huxley, and Jorge Luis Borges among others.

He was nominated as a top Abstract Artist of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 by the American Art Awards. His work has also been showcased on a concert poster for the Grammy winning band ‘The Strokes’.
